GeniePoint takes lead in UK EV forecourt charging

The GeniePoint Network will have 150 fast chargers by 2019

ChargePoint Services and Motor Fuel Group (MFG) are now the leading providers of electric vehicle charging at urban forecourts as well as arterial fuel stations nationwide.

The two companies have been successfully working together to provide the UK with the biggest EV Rapid charging network in forecourt locations. With over 120 Rapid charger sites already installed or underway, they are on target for around 150 50-kW+ chargers by early 2019.

Ahead of all the major fuel suppliers including BP & Shell, the GeniePoint Network is expanding swiftly to provide EV drivers with the security that they can recharge their electric vehicle easily and quickly and often at their preferred local fuel forecourt.

ChargePoint Services managing director Alex Bamberg said: “The GeniePoint Network is already regarded as the most reliable rapid charging network in the UK. We know our 24/7 customer service is outstanding, which gives drivers the confidence to just turn up and charge, safe in the knowledge we’re just a phone call away if they need us. Working alongside leading forecourt operator – MFG, we are delighted to provide this critical service supporting EV drivers across the UK’s road network.”

MFG group infrastructure director Andy Edwards said: “We are delighted to be extending our fuel offer to customers. The growth of the electric and hybrid vehicle market is an important part of the fuel mix going forward. MFG is determined to be at the forefront of this technology, satisfying this growing demand.”

ChargePoint Services uses green energy to power the GeniePoint Network, the group’s unique GeniePoint Platform can balance energy supply, and with built-in, charger energy storage, will help reduce grid reliance. Together, MFG and the GeniePoint Network are making a real difference in the switch to clean fuel transport.
