Prototype Lucid Air seen in San Francisco ahead of promo trailer release

Lucky San Franciscans were this week treated to a glimpse of Lucid’s ultra-luxury electric car, which is intended to rival Tesla’s top-of-the-line vehicles.

The 1,000hp “Air” sedan was reportedly in San Francisco for a promotional shoot. A teaser video was also released on Twitter.

A marketing push is expected to start later in 2017. The all-electric car is expected to get 400 miles on a single charge.

The Silicon Valley-based company’s largest shareholder is Beijing Auto Industry Holdings, while Samsung SDI will supply the battery cells.

The four-door car, with all-wheel drive and a luxury interior, will apparently have a starting price of more than US$100,000.
