VW subsidiary to install 2,800 charging stations across US

A unit of Volkswagen AG has announced that it will install 2,800 non-proprietary electric vehicle charging stations at about 500 sites in 17 of the largest American US cities within the next 18 months.

The subsidiary of the German automaker, Electrify America, said that about 75% of them will be at workplaces and the remainder at apartment buildings. Electrify America , based in Reston, Virginia, had previously announced that it would invest US$2 billion over the next decade in zero-emission infrastructure and education programmes in the US.

Some US$800m of this will be in California, This was announced after the company admitted to fixing diesel emission test results.
